Fire Precursor Detection System & Environment Control

As the global transition to renewable energy accelerates, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) have become critical infrastructure. However, the high energy density of Lithium-ion (Li-ion) cells introduces the risk of thermal runaway (TR). FPDS provides a proactive safety framework that utilizes advanced fire detection systems and multi-modal sensing—specifically VOC, H₂,CO, Pressure and environmental monitoring—to intercept failure vectors before they escalate into catastrophic fire or explosion events.


The transition from reactive firefighting to proactive thermal runaway prevention is not just a technical preference—it is a regulatory necessity. By integrating VOC, H₂ and CO monitoring with rigorous environmental controls, operators can ensure code compliance while drastically reducing the risk of asset loss and system downtime.

Embedded OS based touchscreen controllers integrating HMI, control, and data logging for Battery Energy Storage Systems, ensuring effective fire detection systems and enhanced thermal runaway prevention. The digital outputs facilitate seamless 3rd party integration, while integrated Modbus RTU connectivity allows connection with detectors and modules. Additionally, Modbus TCP IP connectivity ensures smooth integration with EMS and BMS.

Hydrogen Detection at LEL Levels is crucial for early warning before reaching explosive thresholds. This system can be seamlessly integrated with ventilation systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for enhanced safety. Additionally, VOC Spike Detection plays a vital role in identifying early signs of cell venting or electrolyte leakage, which can be integrated with fire detection systems and BMS for effective thermal runaway prevention.

Temperature sensor detection range – -40 to 85 oC. Humidity sensor detection range – 0 to 100% rH. Our condensation sensor is ideal for dew point detection, making it essential for environmental monitoring in Battery Energy Storage Systems. Additionally, these sensors play a crucial role in fire detection systems and thermal runaway prevention.

Continuous tracking of temperature, humidity, and dew point inside Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) containers, along with condensation monitoring points, can provide essential warnings for condensation and trigger dehumidification. This monitoring is crucial for effective fire detection systems and plays a significant role in thermal runaway prevention.

The off gasses released during thermal runaway create a high pressure environment inside the container. Since the container is designed to be airtight, the gasses get trapped and can cause structural damage and increase explosion risk. Ambient pressure monitoring is important so that the excess pressure can be released through deflagration vents and the container structure can be saved.

Dedicated inbuilt terminals for triggering suppression systems are compatible with all types of electrically triggered suppression systems, including those integrated with fire detection systems. Suppression systems are activated only when the fire inside the container is confirmed by multiple inputs.

During normal operation and in case of thermal runaway flammable gasses buildup inside the BESS container, these need to be evacuated to decrease the concentration and prevent deflagration. There are dedicated terminals for the activation and deactivation of active ventilation systems, which are essential for effective thermal runaway prevention in Battery Energy Storage Systems.

During normal operation the temperature and humidity inside the BESS container needs to be controlled. Effective control of environmental factors increases the battery life, reduces degradation of cells and reduces the risk of equipment malfunction that can lead to thermal runaway. Dedicated terminals for activation and deactivation of cooling systems, heating systems, dehumidifiers and humidifiers are provided.
